Drill a 1 3/8 inch hole about 3 inches from the bottom of the drum for your draft controller/guru. About 5 inches from the bottom weld 4 right angle brackets that will hold your charcoal box. We made a round basket out of expanded metal 4 inches in diameter less that outside diameter of the barrel about 8-10 inches high, with a floor also made out of expanded metal. We welded two pegs (cut off 1/4 inch bolts) on two of the brackets to stop the charcoal basket from sliding around. We then welded 4 more right angle brackets about 8 inches from the top to fit our meat shelf - also made out of expanded metal. Weld some handles onto the meat shelf to make it easier to lift off to add charcoal. The lid should be reinforced with metal straps before the chimney is welded on to prevent warping. We used a heavy 4 inch pipe about 8 inches tall and made a sliding lid to adjust output and tuned as we cooked. This is important to prevent the "chimney effect" which sucks down cold air down one side as hot air escapes from the other side of the chimney, making fire control difficult. Tune by closing the chimney lid until smoke starts to escape from under the lid then open slightly. We use the minion method and controll with guru controllers.  Season with crisco - very funny Aaron!
